the platter

two african wild dogs sit on the rim of this rectangular ceramic platter, 35cm long and 25cm wide, each one sculpted and hand-painted individually. the shape is deliberate - rectangular rather than oval, so it sits square against a table runner or alongside a stack of boards. it's sized for the middle of the table: a roast, a cheese board, a long lunch that turns into the afternoon.

each platter is carefully handmade and hand-painted in south africa by a skilled, community-driven ceramic studio. every african wild dog is individually sculpted and painted by hand, celebrating one of africa's most endangered and iconic predators.

inspired by the remarkable social bonds, resilience and beauty of the african wild dog, each platter helps raise awareness for its conservation. 5% of every sale is donated to the african pangolin working group, helping protect endangered wildlife and the habitats they call home.

because every piece is handmade, no two platters are ever identical. slight variations in the wild dogs' markings, pose and expression are part of what makes each ceramic truly one of a kind. we do our best to photograph and describe each piece as accurately as possible, while celebrating the natural character that comes with handmade craftsmanship.
